Column Types/ Custom Fields Available in Anywhere Project Boards
Columns in Anywhere project boards are versatile tools designed to help you manage and track custom data tailored to your specific needs. Think of them as custom fields that can be used to store and manage any type of data you require. With around 18 different column types currently available in Anywhere, you have a wide array of options to customize your boards.
Regardless of the column type you choose, there are standard operations you can perform on each of them, such as renaming, deleting, and reordering.
Exploring the Column Types in Anywhere Boards:
To give you a clearer picture, let's walk through the process of adding a new column to your board, using the Status column as an example. The same process applies to other column types like Label, Priority, Tags, and People.
Adding a New Column to Your Board:
Navigate to your desired board.
Click on the Plus icon located on the far right of your board to introduce a new column.
A column selector panel will appear. From the list, choose the Status column.
A new Status column will be added to the far right of your board.
Renaming the Column:
Hover over the newly added column's name (e.g., Status 1) and click on the small gear icon that appears.
A text field will pop up, allowing you to rename the column. After renaming, click on Done to save the changes.
Deleting a Column from the Board:
Click on the gear icon next to the column you wish to remove.
In the popup that appears, click on the bin icon to initiate the deletion process. A confirmation popup will then appear.
Confirm the deletion by clicking on Yes. Remember, this action is irreversible, and all data within the column will be permanently removed.
Updating Column Values:
Click on any cell within the column to view the available options.
For columns like Label, which don't have predefined options, you can create unique values tailored to your needs.
Add as many options as necessary by clicking on the + icon. You can also utilize the search bar to swiftly locate the desired option.
Selecting an Option for a Line Item:
To choose an option for a line item, simply click on it. A tick mark will indicate your selection.
Confirm your choice by clicking on Done.
Tip: Operations like reordering, creation, color changes, and deletion on columns such as Status, Priority, Tags, and Label can also be executed via the Housekeeping tab found under the Board Settings option.
